STRENGTHENING THE WEAKEST BEFORE ANYTHING HAPPENS – THAT’S POWER-CHILD’S GOAL
Dear readersProtection of the culprit takes precedence over protection of the victim. Controversial criminal profile reports. Difficult to understand. Homeland security is another political issue of our times. But where does this begin? The reality is that the weakest members of our society are the starting point – our children.
And yet it defies comprehension that so little state assistance is in place to protect children against sexual abuse (on the basis of the German Federal Criminal Police Office the number of unreported cases is estimated at 250,000 a year).
Self-help and a proactive approach are the only options remaining to us. And this is precisely the task that Power-Child e.V. has taken on. The Association cannot, however, act without the support of private people and companies. We are grateful for every donation. Donations provide us with the help we need in implementing our preventative projects and continuing to fight sexual violence against children and young people.
In November 2008, we also opened the “POWER-CHILD CAMPUS” in South Africa, located in a township just outside Cape Town (www.power-child-campus.com). This project includes a meeting place for the whole family, the aim being to provide help directly. A further objective is to use sport (the 2012 Football World Cup will be held in South Africa) as a motivational instrument to serve as a perspective for the future.
Children have the right to a future without the fear of being hurt.
